What we do

We publish practical guidance on reaching router administration pages and changing the settings that matter most to ordinary users:

• Signing in at 192.168.0.1 and finding the right address when that one is not it.
• Changing the Wi-Fi password and the network name.
• Wireless security, LAN, DNS, DHCP, guest networks, parental controls and firmware.
• Removing devices you do not recognise, and resetting a router when you are locked out.
• Working out why the admin page will not open at all.

How we write

Plainly, and in the order you will actually do things. We name the menus you are likely to see, we flag where brands differ, and we say when an answer depends on your specific model rather than pretending it does not. Our Editorial Policy sets out the full process.

We are independent

We are not TP-Link, D-Link, NETGEAR, Linksys, ZTE or Huawei, and we are not connected to any of them. We are not your internet provider. That independence is the point: we can tell you to change a default password or move off WPA2 without anyone’s permission.

What we do not do

Being clear about the boundaries matters more on this topic than on most:

• We never ask for your router username, router password or Wi-Fi password — and no legitimate site would.
• We do not connect to your router, proxy your session or see your network.
• We publish only the common factory logins that manufacturers document publicly, for people setting up equipment they own — never lists meant for getting into someone else's router.
• We do not fabricate ratings, review counts or download figures.
